It would be great if the tool could help in filtering by available content types in a site collection.

1. Users selects a site collection
2. System retrieves available content types
3. User makes selection
4. System generates search query filter

Won't add this. You can add a refiner for ContentType, and restrict to what path you need to see all available ones.
